"Let the judges frown"

I forgot my most important point of interest yesterday:

1) I have won lunch for me and 10 of my co-workers at Buffalo Wild Wings. So the Anderson Media Group is going to BWW next Friday for free. What fortune?!?

2) I received an e-mail from the University of Tampa asking me to consider applying for a Graduate Assistantship because of my GMAT score. That was honoring. I'm not too interested, but you never know. Tampa! At least its warm down there. I'm trying to reconcile my potential, interests, and life goals, I guess as I think about my future.

-----On to today-----

Today, I went to class at 10:00 a.m. and have since: been in class, ate lunch with Wiggles Schultz, worked for about 3 hours, ate dinner, done homework homework homework, watched the last 10 minutes of the Duke - Indiana game in the Student Lounge at the School o' Busyness, then went back to homework. Now I am going home after a 14 hour day. And then I'm going to work on a paper and presentation.

I think that the "Real World" the parents and other older folks warn us about will be easier than this. At least it looks easier on MTV.

Two Words that describe my events for the day: Behind Schedule
(I expected to be working on my paper by about 8:00 this evening)

Only a couple more quick days until Rogers hits A-Town again!

"Well I woke up this morning, a rainbow filled the sky"

It's been one of those days. You know the days when you work all day, but don't feel like you've accomplished near what you'd hoped you would.

A few points of interest.

1) I was almost late to chapel because Phil was in the shower, so I kept sleeping, then I got the last card. Luckily I made it.

2) At lunch, Josh & I stole another kids table, because his bag was on the floor and we figured if we sat down, he would come back pick up his bag and move. He moved before we'd even sat down. It worked like a charm, but I felt like a bully, kind of.

3) I had wierd pudding for lunch that had a snicker flavor and looked like crap, but it tasted really good.

In regards to yesterday's comment, in my opinion, Elisha Cuthbert is much hotter in both The Girl Next Door & 24 than she was in House of Wax. However, I still love that movie and her involvement with it, only makes it that much better. I've now seen it 4 times, and enjoyed every one of them.

To describe today in one word: Unrelenting

"Remember us and all we used to be"

Top 5 Thanksgiving Break Moments

5. Seeing "Just Friends" with Ricker, Cousins & Gals until 4:00 a.m. on Thanksgiving Night.
4. Hosting my cousins at the Lounge - Nerf Dart Hunting & Halo Playing (on severe handicap, which caused me to lose a lot)
3. Laughing with my family.
2. Hearing the song Indianapolis Indeed during a Beef 'n Boards Christmas and realizing that I really would love to stay in the Indianapolis area (we'll see how that works out).
1. Eating two Thanksgiving Dinners between the hours of 12:00 and 3:00 on Thanksgiving Day thanks to the Rogers & Rosenbergs!

Other Things I loved about Break:
  • Not being productive
  • Eating a ton of Lisa's Smore dessert
  • Discovering a new wonderful artist (James Blunt) thanks to Target
  • Being up for Black Friday shopping, because I was on the way home from a movie, but then sleeping instead
  • Seeing family come and go throughout the week
  • Playing the freaking fun game Settlers
  • Surfing Facebook and friending a bunch of other Rosenbergs & Rosenbergers

Here's a Bad Feeling: Two weeks of school to go, but wishing there were more because I have so much work to do.

Another thing I just realized: 3 of my Top 10 (almost Top 5) best friends will be gone all week and on Friday.

"Every time you go away"

As quickly as they came, they went...Lisa included. While Rogers flew off to catch a boat and float around the Caribbean, the Martin clan headed home from Thanksgiving at the Rosenbergs. Only Grand-Ma&Pa Martin are left.

I really love the family. They really are great people.

"It's that time of year"

Today represented 1 month until Christmas and 7 months until Lisa & I arrive at our honeymoon destination.

Man I have a killer headache. As long as I can remember or at least throughout most of highschool, I've always had problems with my neck. In high school I would constantly be popping it. Now it's not quite constant, but it wouldn't be out of the ordinary for me to be fidgety, trying to make my neck feel better. I used to go to chiropractors, but they never seemed to help much. Generally, I turn to tylenol, when my neck causes a headache, which is probably a few days each month. Recently I've been using one of those electronic neck massagers and it helps. Sleep also helps.

"The lights go down, and the clouds are building oustide"

Happy Thanksgiving, everybody. I'm having a good ol' time in Anderson, Indiana with my family of 18! Today I ate a meal with Lisa's family at 12:30 and another meal with my family at 2:00. It was a day of feasting and thanks. A good day, that is still underway.

The evening shall consist of game-playing and maybe a Midnight movie with Ricker & cousins. We may also hunt eachother with our supercool nerf guns that we got at Meijers as Thanksgiving rang in last night.

"Feeling short of stable"

Happy Thanksgiving break everybody. I rang in the break by skipping my 3 hour night class and heading over to the Hacienda with my maternal grandparents. The next three weeks hold an absolute ton of work for me, yet I still think I should be able to relax and rest easily over this break.

Thursday I'll even get to open some early Christmas presents from extended family after giving Thanks in the afternoon at two houses. It shall be a superb week, I imagine.

"Let me tell you"

Tomorrow is the last day of school this week. Thus today, seemed like a Friday. Well that didn't really make sense, but today did seem like a Friday. I left work early to meet my mom's cousin who's visiting for the first time in a long time to both see the family and talk with me about my resume, portfolio, and the Consulting field - the field that I am currently most interested in entering after graduation. We had a very good and useful discussion.

Unfortunately, that meant I missed Club tonight, which I had wanted to attend. I'm really looking forward to seeing my extended family this week. Tonight was a good way to kickstart the week. Now it's time to finish up a bit of work and head back to the Lounge, where hopefully my wonderful roommates have re-established my internet, since I do not know much about those types of things.

"With a little love and some tenderness"

Today was a Sunday, the Sabbath, I like to say, although I think technically the Sabbath was on a Saturday. I was semi-productive today. I did some homework and was a friend. I cleaned my drawers and watched a movie. I took a long nap and watched the Colts game.

It was a good day.

Tomorrow begins a week of family and fun. Unfortunately, we still have classes this week. My mom's cousin, who is a consultant with Deloitte (a huge consulting firm) is visiting. Hopefully, I will get some good advice. I know I will get some good food as the family is going out on account of his visit.

Tuesday the rest of the family will begin arriving in town. They will be here all week. Some, even until Sunday. I'm looking forward to it. We should have a lot of fun and food. I need a lot of fun, but not a lot of food.

If you are a Lounger and you are reading this, a couple of my cousins may spend the night here Thursday and Friday. Just wanted to let you know.

"On and on from the moment I wake, to the moment I sleep"

A good Saturday. A rare day that I actually did some homework on a Saturday this year. Weekend homework has been few and far between this semester. Here are the people I saw today, that I know in chronological order (not including after Midnight from last night):
  1. Lisa Rogers - hung out at her house and then went to Marion with her to pick up her wedding shoes
  2. Tom Rogers - Lisa's dad whom I haven't seen a long time in Marion
  3. Cassandra Rogers - Lisa's stepmom, Tom's wife. Our time in Marion was "sufficiently awkward" as Lisa put it.
  4. Larry Rosenberg - my dad
  5. Becky Rosenberg - my mom. I did some homework and ate lunch at my house today
  6. Nate Deardorff - Good friend whom I don't see as much this year, even though he's in SIFE. I saw him for about 10 minutes today
  7. Philip Patrie - a fellow Lounger and good friend, who may or may not be addicted to Hookah
  8. Dan Straley - I saw him for about 45 seconds today
  9. Shannon Sharp - Lisa's best friend and maid of honor. We hung out tonight going to Garfield's, Dairy Queen, & Starbucks...in fact we're still hanging out watching Kicking & Screaming at the Lounge
  10. Eric & Brad Simcoe & Paul at Sam Goody
  11. Delray Shaffer - my highschool science teacher. All around good guy.
  12. Dottie Swartz - she was working at Starbucks
  13. Jason Clodfelder - he came to Starbucks to pursue what would later become a failed attempt to go bowling with us
  14. Eileen Mason - she came with Jason and we had fun chatting at Starbucks
  15. Mason Hutcheson - he came to Starbucks too, seperately
  16. Mason Hutcheson - he went to Family Video too when Shannon & I went to pick up a video there.
  17. Sarah Snodgrass - She was also at Family Video, and although I don't know her personally we had Philosophy together I think
  18. Wilbe King - He came to the Lounge and we had a good time chatting for a good couple of hours
  19. Nate Parliament - He came to the Lounge too. It was a good talk.
  20. Josh Campbell - Fellow lounger who graced us with his presence for a while inbetween homework.
  21. Richard Lehman - I haven't seen him yet, but I think he'll come in the door before we finish watching Kicking & Screaming.

Well I think that's it. 2o unique persons that I know I saw on this Saturday. It was a good day. A very good day.

"Situation candlelight"

The Black & White Party was an overwhelming success. Dancing, relaxing, Pit-playing, and Hookahing made for a fabulous night.

The fog machine / strobelight / professional disco lights were amazing. It was a heckuva a good time, even though I can't dance. My signature move is the spin-in-circle & have fun move.

We also had like 30 people there, many of whom, I've never seen in the Lounge. Black&White Party = Good.

"Let it snow, let it snow"

My laptop has for some reason been operating sans internet the last couple of days. Since I don't know anything about computers I must rely on my roommates for all internet fixes. Normally, they are the ones who mess it up anyway, since I don't touch any of the cords or hubs (and they do), although perhaps my $200 Laptop malfunctioned.

If you are a Lounger and you are reading this, I have two points of interest. 1) I may have typed this very w o r d with your keyboard. 2) If you want to figure out how to connect my computer to the internet, you are more than welcome.

I had a marathon at the S.O.B today. I went to chapel at 10:00 and didn't finally leave until 10:30. Although I did eat two meals in the Marketplace.

I think that maybe now I'll watch a movie. I worked all day (including homework). Now I need some down time.

"I finished it off with some French wine and cheese"

Can you find the missing girl?

Two events of note occur each November 16.

1) My best male friend since elementary school, Ricky Lehman, celebrates a birthday. This year it's 22.

2) My best female friend, Lisa Ann, & I celebrate another year of dating. This year it's 7.

I don't think any day could be more celebrated when it comes to my best friends.

Additionally, 7 years is almost 33% of our lives. In another few months we will have been dating for 33% of our lives. When we reach 30 it will be half of our lives. Lisa Ann & I began our relationship in the Liberty Christian School lunchroom, seven years ago today. Here's to 70 more!

"All we can do is pray, pray for tomorrow"

Really, I shouldn't even write anything. Visit: www.philllip.blogspot.com for some entertainment. Read it twice. It's a twice-readworthy piece.

I hugged Philip, patted Josh's leg, and went over some last minute SIFE business with Andrea before leaving the Lounge for what could have been the last time as the storms approached this evening. Storms that caused the cancellation of my classes. Storms that caused Lisa & I to sit in an inner hallway in her house for at least 30 minutes. Storms that caused me to fall asleep while waiting, causing Lisa to wonder how I could sleep during such inclament weather.

Anyway, as you read on Philip's blog. You did visit it right? The storms were not really storms at all. They were rain, as far as Anderson was concerned. At least class was canceled! Lisa was supposed to have a test, too.

"People hanging with their good friends, listening to those old songs"

The Bad News

  • My parents hit a deer tonight in the van, damaging the van and presumably the deer. However, it was slippery and rainy so they kept going and we're unable to check on the deer, which "flew up in the air" according to Mom.
  • I've got a ton of work ahead in the next few weeks.

The Good News

  • I got my Better Than Ezra photos back today thanks to Clod (see below).
  • I found out that Better Than Ezra is playing in Indiana twice in the next month. Amazing.
  • Marraige Counseling tomorrow.
  • I started watching Lost with Rogers tonight. So far, so good.

The Best News

  • Good Friend & Freedom Fighter Jon Ross is at large in A-Town.

This is me with Tom Drummond & Kevin Griffin of "a musical group with uncompromising vision." I feel kind of wierd that I put my arm around him, causing him to grimace. Look closely. The grimace is there. Notice the football that Jason caught thrown by Mr. Drummond himself.

This picture shows how close we were. KG on stage. Berg in audience. Both in picture.

"As it starts to rain again, fall away"

Today was a nice day. I spent a very good part of it with Rogers. I went to her house in the morning and just dropped her off a bit ago. We had a good old time. I did some more Christmas Shopping today.

I'm really tired. My lack of sleep is starting to catch up with me. Today I felt pretty warn down.

Tonight was a rare Rogers movie night. We watched Mean Girls and then Old School, which I unfortunately fell asleep during.

Well the update is short, because I'm sleepy and my brain isn't functioning all that well. Time to sleep it off.

"They sang a simple song"

It finally arrived. My first Better Than Ezra show since last June. Hands down, the best BTE show I've been to, not necessarily performance-wise, but personally-wise. To put it briefly, I walked away from the show with:

*A Football with a BTE design and signed by the band that they throw out during one of their songs, and Jason-just-promoted-to-best-man#3-Clodfelder snagged it out of the air and handed it to me.
*A setlist.
*An advertisement poster.
*A picture with two of the three band members.
*A guitar pick (all three of us actually got souvenier picks. I caught two and Jason pulled one that Kevin had dropped).

I literally got every type of souvenier available for free. I also bought a t-shirt and hooded jacket for a hefty sum of money. To me that kind of justifies me getting all that free stuff. I did spend roughly $115 on 3 tickets, 1 shirt, 1 jacket. The show was well worth it. And I get to do it all over again on Dec. 11 in Indy!

Only then I probably won't be with Jason & Parlaiment, who make the evening great! Hopefully, I can post some pictures tomorrow.

"Both of us never tiring"

The other night, I think I forgot to talk about my Christmas Shopping spree at Wal-Mart from 1:00a.m. to 2:30. I love Wal-Mart in the wee hours of the morning. It's kind of therapeutic to walk the aisles without a care, taking as much time as you want to look at whatever you want. Needing to buy things for people for Christmas is great too. In December even after Midnight the lines are long, so I may as well get an early start. That's right. If you get a Christmas present from me, it very well may have come from Wal-Mart.

Anyway, I've been burning the candle at both ends, which I guess means I'm going to burn out sooner than if I was only burning it at one end. I don't know what else that expression could mean. So tomorrow I'll be suited up for FSB Visit Day starting freshly at 8:00 a.m. Life with SIFE...

Tomorrow night: Better Than Ezra. I am prepared to have my @55 rocked off, which is what the automated voice tells you to do before they take the stage. Really, it's a pretty cool intro.

Now, I sleep for a few hours. God has blessed me with a killer immune system, because I feel fortunate not to get sick even though I don't take good care of myself. Goodnight. By tomorrow at this time, there will be two more Ezralites in the fold...hopefully.

"It's just one of those days"

Another busy day. Another productive day. Well, semi-productive. I didn't get nearly as much homework finished as I originally hoped, but that was because I was conversing with friends more than anything at the Old School of Business. I certainly think that is worthwhile.

Facebook's new Photo feature is pretty darn cool and so is the mystery present that I have for Lisa and I that she will get next week. A hint is, it is from a company that created items I had as a child.

I gave Dr. Rosenberg a tour of the School O'Business tonight, which he had never been in. I showed him my sister's name on the wall for Outstanding Management Graduate and the SIFE and Public Relations offices. It was pretty cool. This was after we had gone out for dinner at the new Jazz Bar downtown. Excellent food (mostly appetizers and sandwhiches) for reasonable prices.

Tonight was the 1-Year Anniversary of Halo 2's Release. Oh how much changes in a year. But we still played and had a good time.

"Held to the past too aware of the pending"

Payton Manning led the Colts to victory at New England for the first time tonight. Congrats Colts. The team is now 8 and 0. It's a good time to be a sports fan in Indianapolis. The Pacers have a great team. The Colts have the best team. Maybe we'll finally see some championships. Maybe.

I've gotten very good at avoiding homework to spend time with my friends. I'm glad for that. Friends are more important. I think I'm getting to be a little bit more of one of those last minute types. We'll see how that translates into grades. My worst class this semester gave us an opportunity to make up 20 bonus points today and Wednesday. That could move me from B+ and A- range to a solid A. Let's hope I get most of the points.

"When so much is left undone"

Crap. As I head to bed, I realize that the Colts are playing the Patriots on Monday night Football tomorrow night, which is awesome except the work that I neglected to do tonight, will have to be squeezed in somewhere tomorrow. Somewhere. At least I got a few things done today that were productive.

And I spent time with my friends. Rogers during the afternoon, which was wonderful. Then the guys at night, which was splendid. Overall, a fabulous Sunday. Now I smell a little smoky as I go to bed.

I really could skip school tomorrow. But I can't bring myself to do such things. Isn't it awesome that Dr. Edwards is reading my Blog! (see comment below) It's really him. If you don't believe it, click on his name.

Two.5 weeks until Thanksgiving.

Things I purchased this weekend:
Mean Girls DVD $5
Jackie Brown DVD (from Jason) $6
Parking at King's Island $9
Gas for Kings Island $7
Skyline Chili $6
Don Pablos $22
Olive Garden $17
Poker Buy-In $2

That's about $75 of things I didn't need, save King's Island stuff and Poker. If I did that every weekend, that would be around $4,500 a year on weekends alone. Of course, I'd have 104 DVDs, and I potentially would win money back in Poker. But the food, is down the tubes, literally. That's an American Achievement.

"So hold me closer, tiny dancer"

At one point during the day Jason congratulated me for being there on one of the three worst days of his life.

We woke up early and traveled to Kings Island expecting there to be rainy weather and short lines. Instead we had beuatiful weather, but the longest lines I've seen at Kings Island in a decade. 20+ minutes for the Viking Ship. 45 Minutes for Top Gun. Normally these are walk on rides. In the end, we rode a total of 5 rides. Five. But we had a good time, and it was worthwhile. The cost wasn't much: $15 to $20 each including a hearty Skyline Chili Lunch. It was $18 worth of gas and $9 to park. The tickets in were free.

Anyway, we did have a good time. Tonight we went to Castleton and ate at Don Pablos. Tomorrow is church - hang out with Rogers - homework - small group - homework day. If only we had Monday off of school. If only...

"It's a wicked mind with an axe to grind"

Tomorrow, I am heading to Kings Island on a whim of sorts. Because they sent me an e-mail saying "Come for free" and bring your friends, I am going. Good job Ad Wizards, you are geniuses.

Today was a semi-typical Friday although I actually had important stuff happening in classes. This weekend should be pretty busy. It is off to a good start with Halo on Xbox Live & Olive Garden before House of Wax and now we're on our way to La Island de Kings. It will be Clodfelder and I on a Mandate, to steal Phil's word. The shortest trip I've ever taken to Ohio possibly.

"It looked as if I'd picked your name out of a hat"

Today I was sad to hear that one of my Lady friends broke up with her boyfriend of multiple years. She even had a promise ring of sorts and everything I'd heard about this character made him sound like quite a guy - you know the type that makes the rest of us look bad because he's always giving flowers and stuff.

Anyway, apparently, she'd just had enough of something. She said to me, "How do you make it work." To which I replied, "You gotta stick like Jerry Maguire." Well, she's younger so she'd never seen Jerry Maguire because she "was like 10 when it came out." Anyway, in summary for all those who are wondering how to make it work: You just don't ever give up.

Today Rogers followed in the footsteps of Berg and had a positive conversation with a professor in that professor's office. Perhaps my proudest moment, simply because it went so well for her and with just a small step, she's undoubteddly earned the almight "Benefit-of-the-Doubt" in that professor's eyes.

That's right BlogReaders and Bloggers alike: The Benefit-of-the-Doubt is all we need to earn from professors so that we can skip class when necessary, score slightly lower than expected, miss any class and have the ability to make up missed work, and perhaps get a boosted grade at the end of the semester. Some call it sucking-up. I call it smart. The professors are not our enemies (most of the time), they are our friends. They want us to succeed. We just have to show them that we care a little bit and give some effort above and beyond the call of duty to earn the BotD.

Man the key to sustaining and presumably succeeding in Relationships and the key to succeeding in school in one Blog Update. This post has more Reader Benefits than any previous. Enjoy!

"The daisies and the roses"

Some of My Strengths:
  • Leadership (I'm a natural you know, just ask Jason)
  • Communication (I think more written than verbal, just ask Lisa)
  • Analysis (maybe)
  • Nice (I'm friendly to people, you know)

Some of My Weaknesses:

  • Discipline (in all areas such as diet, organization in work, staying on task)
  • Priorities (sometimes I let them get out of hand)
  • Pride (I think I definately have too much pride)
  • Always thinking I'm right (I think that's pride though)
  • {insert perceived weakness here via comments below}

Today I was inspired by Mr. Philip Patrie to listen to some old-school music. The 1996 grammy nominee worked out well with Coolio, Joan Osborne, All-4-One, and TLC all on the same disc. Later I brought out Plankeye a CD that reminds me of being in Florida with Darren Rayl many years ago. Now it's time for Jars Of Clay.

BlogFans Look out. Soon I will have a new internet service and a new computer to replace my old laptop that is now only worth about $200 simply because it has a keyboard and Microsoft programs.

"They would make your name sing"

Today was a good day. So far this week, I've kept my work work to during the day, which has been good. I've got a couple of things to do tonight, but that's okay.

I missed an opportunity to see Jem tonight at the Music Mill. I guess it just seemed like there was enough going on and I also had a class I would have had to miss. Plus, I've got BTE next Friday, which I'm looking forward to.

I've always been one to end a good sentence with a preposition.

I guess that's all the news in BergLand. Life just keeps on ticking on.
