Yes - it has been 10 days since my last post and for that I say, "I've been busy." And I have been busy. Rogers and I were in Anderson last weekend primarily to give a speech at the AU donor banquet. Bonus was we got to go to Ruby Tuesdays with a bunch of our friends and otherwise hang out with some of the guys on Saturday.
Then we drove into the distance and spent 3 days in Chicago, which was a very nice break. Those of you who have known me long, know that I am an avid vacationer. This was literally my first "vacation" since our honeymoon. It was long overdue. In a typical year prior, I would have had 3 vacations over that time. I use quotes because I did have a week off over Christmas, but that doesn't really count as a vacation. And this was only 3 days! I write all this to gain sympathy, but I must admit that I can't complain too much. The Company gives a very fair amount of time off, which is nice. It's up to me how I use it...
All this to say, now I must set to reviewing my 32-page decision guide for one of our clients who wants some stakeholders to make a decision...a decision that will change their lives forever mwua, ha, ha*.

"To the soul of everything"
This weekend I watched 2.75 movies:
1. Breach -- great flick
2. Cabin Fever -- hands down it's a top 5 Friday night horror movie, at least the first 55 minutes were...then it started skipping so if it sucks at the end ignore this statement
3. Layer Cake -- seemed interesting, but I wasn't that into it.
The summer of a scary amount of work begins this week. Hooray.
The Absurdity of Life thought of the day:
Women, may at times, point to their own breasts, proclaiming: "These are real!"

"How we move our lives for another day"
It's a quiet night in on Novi Road...a perfect night for a mystery. Unfortunately, the only mystery tonight is whether Rogers will get home at 10:15, 10:30, 11:00 or later? Let's hope not later! I miss that one when she's off Emergencying all day.
I've a speech to write as I'll be speaking at an A.U. donor function next weekend primarily because my Mom's best friend Patty Rogers is the party planner. So I get to go and talk about how the Falls School o' Business has prepared me for work. Shouldn't be too hard...but it's something to do, and I've been keeping myself busy with plenty of other stuff today that wasn't writing speeches. (cleaned dishes and laundry, watched L4yer Cake, made dinner, walked the dog)
The good news today is that Lisa and I will be able to come to the Dave Matthews show after all. For a moment, I was confused and thought we had uber expensive Yankees vs. Tigers tix on the same day. Fortunately, that's one week later.
Hope to see some of y'all next weekend for a "Howdy." We should be free Saturday for lunch and then Saturday night after 9 p.m. or so as well. Course we also may be able to participate in Sunday night bowling...do you guys still do that?

"There goes my chains"
It felt like September this evening:
Stars. Warm. Clarity.
A couple walking together in the quiet night.
The sounds of a sitcom drifting through an open window disrupting that quiet night with the calming affect of a familiar laughtrack as background noise to silence.
A car slowly passes. I stare into the headlights wondering if the driver thinks I'm looking at them.
Ray LaMontagne. A soothing sound. A September sound.
I walk an extra lap to continue the gathering and organization of thoughts.

"Is this the 50's, or 1999"
Today's visit to the Redford Theatre for Back to the Future was a fruitful experience. Perhaps I'll post a picture of me in front of a replica Deloreon some time.
The rest of the day wasted away leaving my work for the Sabbath. Rogers has to work tomorrow again anyway, so I guess that's OK.

- I wore my Bada Bing! shirt today in honor of the Sopranos series finale tomorrow evening...
- I had Dinosaur Macaroni and Cheese for lunch...
- I watched one episode of 24...
- I called Nate Deardorff because I was listening to Hey Jealousy by the Gin Blossoms and it reminded me of him...
- I watched The Soup...
- I thought about Paris Hilton being in jail...
- I thought about working and did not...
- I ran several laps around my apartment complex...
- I read Phil's blog, but did not bother with anyone else's because they don't update anyway...

"It don't need money, don't take fame"
Many friends + Uno Pizza + 300 + Late Night Monopoly = one great birthday celebration. Thanks to you all for a great evening.
And thanks to Donald at Applewood for delaying the start of 300 for about 10 minutes so that we could make it through the I-69 back-up to only miss the opening credits. There's little like sitting down into those Applewood seats. Thanks for all those great times, Ricker.
Tomorrow will bring an interesting movie-going experience my way. I'll check out the adventures of Marty, Doc and Biff in Back to the Future at a theatre that to my best understanding is similar to Anderson's Paramount. It seats 1,300 and they show old movies every weekend for $4. The organ plays for 30 minutes prior to show, there's a cartoon to kick-off the movie and an intermission. It's a movie going event. If anyone wants to check out a classic on their visit up here, we'll check it out. Fortunately, I will get to see one of my top 5 favorite movies of all time on the big screen.
Tonight was a quiet night in el Rosenberg casa. Procured our usual Chinese takeout, watched a movie and relaxed. Always nice to unwind on a Friday night...

"Friends of mine"
Sunday, May 27, 2007
Quietly building a strong grass-roots following over the last two years, Jon McLaughlin has begun to catch the ears of fans nationwide. So much so that he attracted Better Than Ezra lead singer Kevin Griffin to co-write a song with him on his new release "Indiana."

Am I the only one who thinks this is too cool?
------------------------------------------------
Well, tomorrow I have to get up early for a wedding, so that's not too good. The early part that is. Tonight was a great night of hanging out with some old friends and playing poker and cramming into a car and waiting in a line at Taco Bell's Drive Thru that spanned all the way out to Scatterfield and featured a crazy person who refused to do anything but stare at a telephone pool. It was a great trip to Taco Bell.
Also, as of 11:58 p.m. June 1, I found out that I am a proud owner of a Real Hacienda shirt. The start to a best Birthday ever? You be the judge...
