"On our way into the night"

Well I seem to have finally done it. I'm back on college-like sleeping patterns. I don't think it's a good thing. But I'm sitting here at 1:30 not tired because I've been going to sleep around 2 for the past couple of weeks...primarily because I've been working several hours each night.

But tonight there was no work, so I should be sleeping like a baby. But instead I sit here doing nothing. Been playing a little guitar though recently which has been nice also.

Tomorrow will be a good day. Work should FINALLY be slowing down to an OK pace -- meaning I have plenty to do during the workday, but can take a few minutes and perhaps a lunch break every now and then.

Then by about 10, I'll be having QTWR. That's right Quality Time with Ricky, my long-lost friend whom I haven't seen since my birthday I think. To be shortly followed by 4 more friends coming up on Saturday. Looking forward to hanging out with y'all. Jason, bring the poker chips just in case.

Of course, a better use of our time, may be spent here: http://www.boogiefevercafe.com/. Seriously, go to the Website and then revel in the glorious music and imagine yourself hitting the dance floor in your best 70's get-up.

"Supposedly Pharoahless"

The countdown to 600 posts is on. This is 598. That's enough to get a story out there, eh? If someone were to read this blog from front to back, I'd bet they'd have a fairly good idea of who I am. Unfortunately, I may come off as fairly shallow (i.e., not deep) seeing as most of my posts are not of a deep or thinking-man's nature. I think it would be more fair to judge as "tired" seeing as oftentimes this Blog is my brain-dump before bed. What happened that day, what am I thinking about right now...that cool picture I just put on my profile on facebook.

Now...my good macaroni and cheese with lobster pieces dinner.

Now...how good a shower and bed is going to feel.

Ten minutes ago...how underappreciated the former band Elliot is: http://www.myspace.com/elliottmusic

Nine and eleven minutes ago...Summary Annual Reports and Summary Plan Descriptions

Time for that shower and bed that are going to feel darn good. Those of you going to the Lions v. Bears on Sunday looks like Grossman's been benched with Michigan's own Griese taking his place. Should be an interesting game!

"With a kiss or two her life is sunny"

Today was a great day spent with Rogers:
  • Worshipping
  • Walking the streets of Ferndale
  • Garagesaling
  • Relaxing
  • Dancing in the kitchen to Frank Sinatra
  • Eating superb pasta
  • Watching Notting Hill
  • Swinging in a beautiful deserted park

Work has got me down recently. Yesterday I was in the office for nearly 400 minutes trying to get things done. Billing 6.5 hours on a Saturday. That's about as much as a regular workday. Tonight I should be doing more, but I'm worn down. Seems like there's just too much to do...

In the meantime, I have received about 6 text messages today. If you are text messaging me, I can't read them so call me and leave a message or e-mail me instead. Or post a comment. Looking forward to next weekend. Y'all coming up Friday night?

"Gypsy mother and a bucket of tears"

While S&S Steel may not celebrate Talk Like a Pirate Day, at least Mercer observes the day:

Also, DON'T text message me anymore. The screen on my cell phone is broken so I can't receive texts and haven't been able to for the past several days. I should have a new phone by next week, but otherwise for now please call and leave a message or e-mail me. Sorry if I've missed some messages.

"Counting all the ways which you will grow"

Two Cheers for....Lisa and her wall-scraping/priming/painting abilities! Well, she hasn't started painting, but I know it's going to look great.

Things I've Recently Purchased
  • Kill Bill Vol. II DVD -- $6.50
  • Match Point DVD -- $4.00
  • Dave and Tim at Radio City Music Hall -- $20 (traded DVDs)

Movies I Recently Rented

  • Kill Bill Vol. I and Wrong Turn -- 2 for $5.00
  • Smokin Aces -- $4.50

Items I Recently Ate

  • Rogers' Magic Stir Fry
  • Oreo Pudding

Aside from the Concert, I had the most fun with Parliament

  • Watching Wedding Crashers and laughing the entire time
  • Discovering the pub we were watching the Colts game in had free nachos (about two hours after we arrived)
  • Looking for and eating Sushi

Yes, looking for Sushi was fun. When you're standing on a street corner, not knowing where to go, and you pull out a cell phone and GPS Sushi and pick Little Tree Sushi from the list and the cell phone speaks to you and says, "Destination is on your right" three things happen:

1) You feel like an idiot

2) You laugh

3) Your thankful for technology and its ability to tell you what's right in front of you and recalculate your root when you walk the wrong way.

To be fair, the Sushi was on our right, but one block up, so we couldn't technically see it from where we were standing.

"16 miles to the promised land"

First: www.vote756.com. Perhaps the coolest thing happening this week.

Second: On with the update. Parliament's visit to Ferndale made for an enjoyable weekend of movie watching, conversing and fooding. Shoot em Up, Smokin Aces, Wedding Crashers, 10 min. of Godzilla, Sushi, Max & Erma's, Taco Bell, a bottle of wine, Irish Pub, Colts Game, and Conversations later we were ready for the Rilo Kiley concert a full 1 hour and 45 minutes prior to the opening act which was a big fat No Good despite featuring indie rock George Wiley look-a-like on Guitar.

It was a fun weekend. And I look forward to the next friend visit in...2 weeks!

That's about it. I'm tired and need to do some work.

"We hope you enjoyed your stay"

I've got to say, the Killers show was unbelievably good. If you were in Columbus last Saturday night, you know what' I'm talking about. I can't say it was the best show I've ever been to, but it was right up there...they played a fantastic live show after about 3 hours of non-stop rain.

The crowd was nuts and we were right in the middle of it. Coming up with a drumstick was pretty stinking sweet thanks to Phil's block out of the girls next to us! Crowd surfers hitting the deck like a rock in water. Goth high schoolers moshing like...high schoolers. And the Killers rocking our butts off for 15+ songs at the highest volume possible -- 11.

We've got to see them again sometime.

1. Go to a Killers show. 2. Camp out with friends. 3. Eat at Steak 'n Shake at 1 a.m. with a cracked out waitress who at first glance seems to be unfit to waitress, but ends up being a great waitress complete with accidentally free milkshakes and Dr. Peppers to go. 4. Repeat next time the Killers hit the Midwest.

In other news, Rogers got hired today for a new job. Interviewed and hired on the same day. And she's very excited about it and so am I. More hours, higher pay and most importantly....wait for it....could it be.....yes, NO MORE WEEKENDS!

Rogers may get to eat at Hacienda again someday after all! Best Week Ever. Congrats to Rogerito!

Rilo Kiley on Monday. Bring your dancing shoes Parliament because Jenny Lewis is going to ask you to shake your Moneymaker! http://www.myspace.com/rilokiley
