Should normal blogging now resume? I don't know. I can't get the image of Obama giving his speech last night out of my mind. It was a powerful image. To me a dark image. Something about the dark gray backdrop with little contrast from Obama's crisp black suit and red tie. The only light on the stage being the huge podium and the many American flags lining the background. There was little joy in his demeanor. His words were eloquent (as always). They were meaningful and inspirational. It was a good speech, but I can't shake the image, which to me was unsettling. The man who will be the most powerful in the world. A young man, ready to go to work while the multitudes around the world rejoice, tears streaming down their faces. What is the meaning of this?
It's quite clear now that I'm in the minority in the country when it comes to Obama, and perhaps when it comes to conservative thinking. Still, I am a hopeful person. I am hopeful that Obama will be good for America. I am hopeful that he will be wise and strong. I am hopeful that America will remain the greatest country as he leads.
Perhaps tomorrow, normal blogging will resume.

What touched me about his speech was the fact that it didn't seem to me a "victory speech". No one conquered or overcame the 'enemy', no one was there to rub it in the face of the losers. His speech was an invitation to participate in America, for everyone. It was not divisive, but redemptive and inclusive. We are not used to this.
I hope to, Berg, but let us not forget that our ultimate hope is not in any government of man, but in the redemptive love of Jesus Christ.
Yay for seminary!
blogs about music and friends = good
blogs about politics = faggy
...ps i'll always love you
"When that day comes, you will cry out for relief from the king you have chosen, and the LORD will not answer you in that day"
this was God's word for the nation of Israel when they demanded king to rule them to replace the prophetic judge who was Samuel at the time.
see 1 Sam 8
as I have been praying, meditating, having dreams, and hearing thoughts from other prophetic voices of our time-- some of us get the inclination that we are now in similar situation. America has such a spirit of bitterness, dissention, and division towards the Bush administration. God has heard our cry for change, but it hasn't been a cry from a righteous standpoint. It has been out of anger, bitterness and pride. I fear judgement awaits this country... I can't say its for certain, but i have had dreams, my interceding community has had dreams and it was what we have sensed at large. I hope its not true for everyone's sake...
Regardless, we need to repent of our foolish, headstrong ways... and MOST importantly, we need to pray for Obama. Most people can point the finger at Bush, but how many of us christians who have pointed the finger at him have interceded for him?
righteousness exalts a nation, but sin is a disgrace for all people
p.s. berg: i am a terrible friend. I apologize for not calling you back. You will hear from me soon...
