"I'll have to learn to stand my ground"

Last night we lost our playoff intramural game and I realized shortly afterwards that I have lost a little bit of my previous competitiveness. I make no apologies (normally) I like to win in anything I compete in. However, when I lose depending on the game (sport, cards, board, video) I would have different reactions. In sports, I hate to lose. In games of luck, I am not nearly as upset.
Whatever the case may be for me, some people say intramurals, sports, games etc. are meant to be fun. That is their opinion.

Some people have the mindset that they are meant to be fun, others have the mindset they are meant to be won. Competition drives persons, business, politics and a great deal of other things. Each is looking to win. I guess I subscribe to the philosophy of winning, but I try to have fun either way. The game is fun (hopefully), but the feeling your left with depends on whether you won or lost. When I lose anything there is mild disappointment.

I think it is beneficial to have a competitive spirit. To want to be ahead. To want to be the best. If you are striving to be the best, you are most likely doing the "best" that you can, and I think that is always admirable.

If you are competing to have fun, this is admirable as well. Nevertheless, personally, I hold the person in higher esteem who competes to be the best, but only if they maintain the proper attitude, win or lose.

So I guess, maybe I haven't lost my competitive nature, just part of the sucky attitude that came along with it.

Tonight, Lisa and I watched Scrubs and Sopranos (another favorite S show to complement Seinfeld, Saved by the Bell, South Park and Scrubs). Then I did homework for 2-3 hours. A pretty good stretch for me.

FLL from today: when Barabbas (from the Bible) was mentioned. Lisa: "I thought it was Barnabas?" Andrew: "That was Paul's friend." Lisa: "What about Barnacle?"
