"Stop me if you heard it all before"

Man, I just wrote this long post and it didn't save... so here it goes again.

There are two key parts to Halo. The choices that you make. This includes weapon selection, which direction to go, and how to best outwit and outplay your opponent. Second execution. If you make good choices and execute effectively you will be a much better player than those who only do one well. Personally, I feel that I make decent choices. I generally have a plan and know what I want to do and I feel that I am decent at guessing my enemies' plans. But I'm not that great of an executer. I lose one on one battles all the time that I should be able to win. Execution just takes practice. Making good choices has a bit to do with intuition and also a lot to do with practice.

So we played Halo for a few hours tonight. I took the "Criticize the player who is using the rockets" strategy. It always sucks when someone starts making fun of you for using the rockets. I know because it happens to me occasionally. It sort of makes you feel like an inferior player, thus at times you may want to choose another weapon to prove that you don't NEED the rockets, your only using them because its convenient. So tonight I started criticizing Phil everytime he shot me with a rocket and sometimes when he wasn't using them. The goal was to encourage him not to use them so that I could! He has become a bit of a rocket whore recently anyway, so it wasn't completely unmerited. I did manage to work him up a little bit as he talked back a few times and told me he didn't want to hear anymore whining. Nate later called me a Baby for using the rockets. (Yes, regardless as to whether Phil ever considered not using them, I did manage to monopolize them a great deal of the night) Perhaps no one else sees the humor in making fun of others and then doing the exact same thing, but it seemed to work out okay at least. I had fun blowing the crap out of them, when I wasn't dying. And we won over half the games.

The way I see it is use the weapons Bungie gave you. It is a perfectly legitimate strategy to pick up those rockets the whole stinking game. Why would you not use the weapon that best helps you win the game? To prove that your a better player? Heck if you win, that makes you better at least for that game. If nothing else your strategy is better than theirs, although they may have more skill. Yeah, it can be annoying to get blown up over and over again, but in my opinion its a perfectly legitimate strategy. The rockets are there for the using so use away!

The rockets are made to be whored. For reference, see how I won the Blockbuster tournament. I think that we did mention your verbal abhorance to the rockets, and also experienced your virtual use of said rockets, and I do vaguely recall the phrase "Talk about the pot calling the kettle black" but that might have been a different time and place.

rockets were mad for so that your little sister can play halo with you and not get totally killed. So unless you are my little sister don't fall back on your rockets all the time
